Court Order/Name change Certificate not issued with Nat. Certificate @ Newark, NJ.

Hi, I changed the last name during the Naturalization process. Newark Nj, USCIS did not give the name change certificate/court order along with the Nat. Certificate. Having issue in getting the DL changed as well as OCI.

Now the USCIS is mentioning that I have to file Freedom of Information Act form or G-884(return of original document). these process is very time consuming.

Did any one in the forum went through the issue? How to get the name change certificate/court order asap?

My husband changed his name too. he told about that at the interview. He didn't receive any paper except naturalization certificate at the oath ceremony. But after a week or so, we received a notice that his name was changed and it was sealed and signed by judge. I do not remember the "name" of that notice now.
 
Why you don't try to contact court and try to get duplicate of court order directly from them. I am not sure how this might work but common sense is that you should be able to solve it this way.
 
Normal Procedure is at the time of receiving naturalization certificate, we also receive court notice for name change. If failed , we can call courthouse administrator and ask copy for that and they will mail you.
 
Since we are on name change topic, I have question on name change. I'm in the process of filing the N-400 application and would like to change my last name.

Should I put new last name (which I would like to change to) on the form? or tell at the time of interview?

At the time of application form filling, you can add your new name in appropriate column. During the interview, IO will confirm the new name as per application mentioned.
This is simple method and easy one to change name.
