Countries visited, Affliations, Traffic Violations

Hello Gurus,

I diligently looked in the FAQ before posting this message. Pardon my ignorance, but I thought I would get some advise before filing the application.

I am within 90-day window for applying N-400 and I am all excited about it. I started filling out the Application and here are some of my questions.

1. On my last trip to Singapore on business, I missed my connection in Tokyo, and I stayed overnight in Tokyo. I had to go thru immigration in Tokyo and was put up in a hotel outside the airport till next morning. Do I list Japan as one of the countires I visited, though it was not my intention?

2. My next question is on Affliations. I do not any affliations except Alumni for my previous University (which is automatic I think), Apple Ceveloper Connection memebership and some other Computer Graphics related memberships. Do these need to be mentioned on the form? The problem is I dont even remember what academic associations I am member of.

3. Traffic Violations. I did try to look thru the FAQ before asking this question.

a. I got two traffic tickets in Michigan in the last six months and I
contested them court and both were dismissed "Without Prejudice".
Do I still need to mention them? They do not appear on my Driving
Record at all? The cops did not even appear in court for these cases.

b. I got a traffic ticket in March, 1998 in Utah. I attended a class by
the ticket never got onto my Driving Record. When I ordered the
Utah Driving Record it did not show up all. I dont even have records
or remember the dates to list it. Any suggestion? Also, since this
was over 7 years ago, do I need to list it?

c. I got a speeding ticket in Jan 1994 in Nevada while I was a Driver in
Utah. I paid the ticket, but I dont have any information regarding
the exact dates and how much was it for. Since this was over 10
10 years ago, should I still list it?

Thank you all for your time and help.

Best regards,
Nebulous

I would put down "From date xx - to date xx", countries visited "Singapore / Japan".

I would put down all tickets from a, b and c. If you can't remember the date, just put Jan 1994, March 1998 as you described, and you could write down "ticket was fully paid", "went thru traffic schools". For the tickets you got in MI, you should have the court paper to proof the outcome. since you got the citiations from a, b and c, regardless of you paid the fine; went to traffic school; or cases dismissed; you still need to report them on your n-400 application form.

Affliations

OCWorker,

Thank you for the responses. I will put down all the traffic violations.

My other question was regarding Affliations. I dont even remember what academic associations I am part of. Lot of times, you sign up, but dont even remember.

I am guessing that as long as they are not fund-raising organizations, political affliations or foreign organizations, I should be OK not listing them.

Thank you for your time.

Best regards,

i did not fill about the affliations / organization section on my n400. i just hope they would not pick on me in the future to say i lie under oath because i did not put down the computer science club membership when i was in highschool.

do we also need to list 'parking' traffic violations. I parked next to a fire hydrator (in a hurry to catch the train) and got a parking ticket for that. I didn't have to go to the court and just sent the check for the fine by postal mail. Do I still need to mention that under traffic violations on my N-400 application.

Also, I understand that women don't have to register for selective service.. am I correct?

thank you very much in advance

You need to list your parking ticket(s). Women do not need to register for selective services.

thank you fitness99.

One quick question again - For the parking ticket that i got a couple of years back, I called up the local municipal court and requested them to send me a certified stmt saying i paid the fine in full which they did (I spoke to a very nice lady there). So I assume that proof is enough, correct?

does an applicant need to list the parking tickets which he received while driving someone's else car?

parking tickets are for the owner of the car, not to the driver. i have never heard we need to list the parking ticket(s), unless the parking ticket(s) are classified as moving violation citation kind.

oh.. so we may not have to list the parking ticket(s) then.. i am confused!! Probably i will start another thread asking ppl to share their experience(s) on this topic.

thank you very much for your response.

it is a good idea to open another thread to ask if parking tickets need to be included on the N400 form.

I sure did not include the parking ticket(s) (i can't even remember if i even got any parking tickets or not). I am not sure if someone else did.
