I have been a permanent resident for over 30 years. I maintained my status all along. Now I am applying for naturalization. During the last five years, i.e from Jan 2000 I did maintain my stay for 900 days or 30 months. During one of the trips ( the one with longest duration) I was absent from Oct 29, 00 to April 25, 01. It amounts to 178 days. How are the months counted, by days or by months no matter when you have arrived/left in a month. If counted as months they will be 7; of course by days 178. I am in the process of sending my application but urgently need clarification. Grateful for your feed back. I fulfill the rest of the requirements
