If you have received the Packet 3 , then you are well down the
path towards a CP.
I do not know, why you are considering the switch to AOS at this
point.
The time line for CP is as follows:
1. You send back the Packet 3 ( The amount of paper work you need to send back with Packet 3 depends on the Consular post
you are going to attend. For example if it is in Canada they will
expect submission of all originals with Packet 3. )
2. Within approx. 10 days of receiving it, the NVC enters your
Packet 3 in their system.
3. Next is the review process, which is taking roughly 2 to 3 weeks now. ( This is not a precise figure, the NVC indicates
6 to 8 weeks, and there are several cases where it is actually taking more than 8 weeks. )
4. Roughly 10 days after review the packet 3 is sent to Consulate.
5. Consulate receives the package and fixes the appointment.
A rough formula for the month of interview is:
Interview month = Month the Consulate received the file +
2 months.
Hope this helps.
