Could another lawyer file H1-B extension?

Dear all,

I have some questions regarding my I-140/I-485 and H1-B extension. I would appreciate your advice and suggestions.

My situation:

I got my LC last month. For my I-140/I-485, I gave all the necessary info, documents and fees to my lawyer 3 weeks ago. He was supposed to file by the end of this month, but he just told me that he would not be able to. In addition, my H1-B will expire in 3 months, so I will also need to have my H1-B extension filed soon. I am concerned that my lawyer may not be able to file it in timely manners.

My questions:

(1) Would it be wise to consider asking another lawyer to file my H1-B extension?

(2) If I ask another lawyer to file my H1-B extension, would that make my I-140/I-485 applications (which I have already paid my current lawyer to file) more complicated?

(3) What are possible nagative consequences of not filing I-140/I-485 applications in timely manners? I wonder how likely it is that the cut-off date retrogresses before my PD (which is current now) during the next 1-2 months.

Thank you!

There is no problem in using another Lawyer for H1B, SOME EMPLOYER USE lawyer for GC purpose and H1B is handled internally by immigration department same is true if u want to use different lawyer

No effect on your 140/I-485 applications

U NEVER KNOW THIS.

Dear kgp,

Thank you for your info and suggestion! I am glad to hear that there is no technical problem using different lawyers for GC and H1-B. It seems that I just need to start doing the groundwork just in case my current lawyer is too busy to file my H1-B (such as finding another lawyer, talking to my employer, etc.). Thank you again for your help.
