Cost of Lawyer Worth It?

I have a lawyer that we've used before for immigration issues and we are considering to start the I-485 process. She works at a pretty large law firm specializing in immigration.

Their rate is $3,500... $2,000 for the retainer and $1,500 when we get our interview with USCIS. Does this seem like the normal rates? I'd rather pay a little more and make sure everything is in order than try to do it myself and screw something up.

Thoughts?

Thank you.

A lawyer is hired to submit a well prepared case and to safeguard against RFEs. Rates vary from firm to firm - depend on experience and reputation. My company pays much more than $4,500 per case that includes LC, I-140, I-485 with the ancillaries.

I forgot to add that the $3,500 is only for the lawyers. I have to pay anything related to the submission (form fee, shipping costs, etc).

I'd like to get the case going quickly and with the least errors as to get my wife set as soon as possible.

Thanks.
