Gurus, How do I get a copy of tax returns for the year 1998 .. I heard that you can request it from IRS. Can u guys pls throw some light on this

call this number. they will fax it to you in 10 minutes. I got mine over the fax.

I suppose you got a computer generated transcript of your prior year tax returns. Is it okay to sumbit these transcripts as opposed to a photocopy of 1040. Did you check wity your attorney? Appreciate your feedback.

Yes, I checked with my attorney. At the time of submission for 485 the transcripts will do. But for the actual interview, one is better of taking the originals. IRS will provide that too. It takes 6 - 8 weeks to get those in mail. They do not fax the copies of 1040. Hope this helps.

Appreciate your quick response. For RFE that requires prior year tax returns (which needs to be sent to vermont along with other information) will a copy of a transcript received from IRS suffice.
