I worked as a consultant for X company placed in Z client. My contract is over with X

company. I got another contract from Y
consulting company for Z client (same client) only. I joined Y company and started working

for Z client.

Now X company threatens that I am not suppose for Z client upto
one year after leaving them. This was mentioned in the offer letter
too...

Are these issues legal in CA law ?

what can I do if they file case against me ?

My salary with X co. was reduced and no more matches the offer letter salary. So, I want to

know whether the terms in offer letter still hold good ?

help appreciated

This is a complex case. Looks like both you and your employer have violated one of the clauses in your contractual employment agreement. You will have to get an opinion from an attorney specializing in employment law.

My opinion is that if your employer violated the salary clause first, then you have a case and you can argue that employer's violation of one clause on the contract frees you from ALL OTHER clauses of the contract, including any "non-compete" clauses that prevents you from working with the same client for a period of time.
