Continuous residency question

I will be soon applying for US citizenship. On N-400 I'll have to supply dates of my arrival and departure to the US but I don't have documented evidence to substantiate the information I provide. How will the INS know that I supplied the correct information? Do they have any records that they use to confirm my arrival/departure information?

I think the arrival departure information available on the passport should be sufficient.

Thanks for your responses. Unfortunately, US customs did not stamp my forign passport during my departure trips from the US. it would only get stamped upon return. Also, I can only find SOME of the boarding passes and other small evidence of my departure and return. Therefore, no significant evidence there. I'm curious to know if INS really has credible database showing individuls' arrival/departure dates that they can go back to, when in doubt. If so, is it accurate enough to substantiate the dates I put on N-400.

Arrival-Departure Record

They swipe the GC on arrival, but no swiping on departure: hence they do not
seem to care to record the departure. Also swiping GC on arrival may (?) be to varify the authenticity of GC and not really creating an entry in computer. Thus it may be (?) assumed that so far they did not care to keep the arrival record for GC holders ( and US citizens ) while for all others ( nonimmigrants) they record arrival and departure both by issue of form I 94 .
A cupmuter scientist expalined to me that generally for a high security system makikg an entry into a computer of INS is to be treated with santity and the system would not permit an entry by every INS officer at th POE. I thought it made sense .
Finally one can only know like JoeF says: only if you can know from BCIS.

On interview

It seems that INS officer takes 2 questions seriously-

- exact timeline of your physical presence in USA
- Did you do any crime?

On your arrival (it does not matter how many times) , INS officer/custom put your Passport# on their computer/database.

It is good , NOT to hide anything on N-400.

After obtaining citizenship , later if they found anything that you lied on N-400 , your citizenship will be REVOKED & prison punishment.

Now the INS is getting tough ......be aware of that......

Good luck......
