- My daughter became a Permanent Resident on 10 May 2011.
- She returned to her native country on 10 June 2011 and coming to US on 1 Sept 2012.
- She applied Re-entry permit before leaving US to keep her Permanenet resident status and now she got the re-entry permit
- She is coming back and will be in US with Permanent Resident status from 1 Sept 2012

When is she eligible for naturalization and the Earliest Day to apply ?

Appreciate your comments.
Thank You
Ram

4yrs + 1 day from the date of return.

Alternatively, if you become a citizen before she turns 18, then she becomes a citizen as well (she needs to be in the US).

Thank You all for the response. she is 14 in Mar 2012 and will be 18 in Mar 2016. As per 4 yrs and 1 day, when she applies on Sept 2, 2012 she would complete 18 !.
Thanks

Are you already a US citizen, or do you expect to become eligible for citizenship before she turns 18?

If you become a citizen before she turns 18, and she's in the US with her green card living with you in your physical and legal custody, she wouldn't have to wait out the 4 years and 1 day since she'd be eligible for derivative citizenship through your naturalization (or her other parent, if that parent becomes a USC and she's living with the other parent).

But if she's applying on her own merit, she must be at least 18 and wait 4 years and 1 day after the end of that long trip.
