Continuing work with Indian employer on H4

My wife will be joining me in US on an H4 visa soon. Her Indian employer has agreed for her to continue working from home from US. Is it LEGAL to work on an H4 for an overseas company when you are in the US??

I searched a lot and found mixed responses, so please, if some one really knows this or can point me to official USCIS documentation that talks about this, I would greatly appreciate that.
 
If you get salary in Indian currency which is credited to your Indian Bank Account then you should be fine.

If you get salary in USD credited to US Bank account then it is ILLEGAL.
