Continuing to work for US company AFTER GC in Europe (Consular Processed GC).

I've the below clarifications.

I am working for a US company in Europe right now, and requested them to pay the salary in the US, once the GC is ready.

1. Is it sufficient if the family and I visit the US for a week for
getting the GC stamped. Can I come back to Europe and
continue working there and receive the salary in the US
file US taxes, maintain C/o US address, bank account,
drivers license etc..)

2. Can I apply for a re-entry permit, 6-9 months after the GC
(mailed from within the US and will be using a C/o US
address for receiving the re-entry permit).

3. Since children are studying abroad, thought of visiting US
during the third year to maintain the GC (first 2 years, use the
re-entry permit). Finally move, three years after GC to US.

Do you see any issues with this kind of an approach !!!

Appreciate your help
Thanks

It is all about your intent.

To have a GC your intent must be to have your permanent residence solely in the US.

If the INS think that is NOT your intent then they will take the GC away.

3 years in some other country, I doubt it. Your intent is not convincing, and I think you owuld have avery hard time.

A stay out of the US past 5 months is now enough to question intent at the POE.

Well, I have different understanding....i am in a similar situation..and understand that as long as we are with the US based company and on an assignment overseas,we would be considered to have the intent to come back to the US...i have colleagues who have GC and are in a similar situation..they have been visiting US once every year and at POE show a letter from company verifying US based employment ...and never faced any trouble...

lets brain storm this issue further

cheers!

Now this is a different situation.. If you are working abroad for a US based company (even better if its the same one who sponsored u) then you can easily stay abroad for 2 yrs on a re-entry permit.

The better news is that u can even (under certain circumstances) files a N600 and have this time counted towards your naturalization requirments...

Thanks for you replies.

Are there any possibilities (apart from working for a US based company), to be able to apply for a re-entry permit ?

Any other coments regargding this issue ?

Thanks
