From talking to the House of representative offices, it seems the latest efforts on educating the US representatives and media - instead of supporting specific bills - are working. It is also important to suggest removal of restrictions when changing jobs on AC21 and possibility to apply for EAD+AP upon I-140 filing (without I-485).

Remember supporting specific bills may cause the unintended consequence of confusing our cause against the illegal immigration one, what the McCain/Kennedy S.1033 is more about. Moreover, personally I would not want to buy political enemies when supporting highly controversial bills.

In addition, there is always the grave danger that if 12 millions of illegal aliens get an amnesty, a backlog could be generated at USCIS for many and many years to come. We don't want to go there.

Let's continue !

This is one endorses the idea that we need to focus on the EB issue instead f bills, since the below may be implemented regardless the McCain bill.

From the Financial Times:
"Large US employers are hoping for a quicker fix. They are lobbying Congress to amend the rules so that the 140,000 annual cap on green cards applies only to skilled workers and not to their family members. They are also urging that unused quotas from past years be carried forward to help relieve the current backlog."

You are correct. We need to highlight the problem and suggest solutions.
We should support bills that do not solve the issues for us.

Pitch the problems, and possible solutions.
