contacting a local district office

Has anyone written a letter to a district office asking a question (such as when might they schedule an interview)? I live over a hundred miles from my DO and was thinking of writing a letter rather than doing an infopass. If anyone has ever written to a DO, was there actually a response from them?
 
I did it for my green card 2 every month.Never got response.I would def do Infopass.So you know for sure if they are giving you acccurate information.Letter they send out usually is confusing and it looks like you are already there ;)
 
Hank give it a try. You never know, they might reply to your letter. I wil do it if I lived 100 miles from my DO.
 
I never received a response to any of my letters to USCIS. At my second interview, I did see a few of the letters in my A-file. I figured that they just place the letters in the file without reading them.
 
Yup, as far as I can tell, sending a letter does only two things:
1) fatten your A-file slightly
2) provide evidence that you actively tried to do something/get something done.

I sent two letters to the Dallas DO and never received a response (though I did spot one of them in my A-file)
 
Sometimes they do reply. I sent 3 letters and two faxes to the Vermont Service Center and they respond to two of them. One of the letters was about my case pending "security checks" and the other one about sending my expedite request to the DO office since this kind of request is not longer process by the Service Center but your DO.
 
I agree. It works some times.
I sent two letters to the Washington DO requesting for an update on my case status after my name check was pending. Someone from the Office eventually contacted me on my cell phone to get a fax number to send me form N-445, naturalization Oath ceremony notification.
