Dear All,

My brother's wife went for H4 visa interview yesterday at Delhi Embassy. The officer asked usual questions and saw few documents etc. After that the officer kept her passport as well as my brother's original I-797 (H1 work permit).

Is this their normal practice? When/how would they return original I-797. Does anyone had similar experience. My friends wife went for H4 interview at Mumbai last month and there they did not keep his original I-797.

Can someone please share their experience or tell me more about this.
Thanks

Rajeev

I recently (2 weeks ago) had my H-1 stamped from New Delhi. My original I-797 was taken along with the passport. It was returned stapled to the last page of my PP when I picked it up after visa stamping. I am assuming that the same procedure is followed for H-4.
