Consular to 485 - please help

I had opted for consular processing in I140. But with this concurrent thing coming up i would like to file for 485. My I140 is still pending with INS (filed in April 2002).

The question i have is that can i file for 485 now and ask for change from consular to 485? What is the procedure? Can anyone who knows please reply.
 
No procedure required for filing I-485, even you have opted for CP while filing i-140. You can directly File 485 (AOS) instead of CP.
If you had opted for AOS while filing I-140 and later changed your mind for CP, then you need procedure to follow ( You need to File I-824) before going for CP.
Your case is simple. Ask your attorney to file 485 and he would do that without losing time.

What if we choose cp on i-140 and file i-485 concurently, do you think can we go back to cp , if i-485 is backlog too much by filing i-824 ?
