Consular Processing vs. AOS -- Which one to choose?

My I-140 (EB1) has been approved and my PD has become current recently. I did not file for I-1485 along with I-140 and I am trying to decide between CP and AOS for I-485. The caveat is I would like to go back to school full-time in August 07. Given this, which option: CP or AOS, would be faster? If I file for I-485 through CP (Chennai consulate) in September 06, how long would it take for me to get the GC? Alternately, if I choose AOS, how long would it take? Any information on these will be greatly appreciated.

AOS would take a long time. CP typically takes 6 months assuming PD is current all the way till the end till the interview is scheduled and completed.
