Consular Processing Interview for 5 Year Old Child

My stepdaughter just got her interviewed scheduled for October in Rio for her CR2 Visa and I was wondering if anyone knows what she should expect. What kind of questions could they ask a 5 year old? Is it more of a formality? She will be taken to the interview by her grandmother since her mom (my wife) is in the US and is 6 months pregnant with twins so she can't travel down there.

Also, does anyone know if she will need a notarized letter signed by the father allowing her to immigrate to the US? He is not a part of her life and has already signed a document allowing her to leave the country although it doesn't specify her immigrating here.

Thanks in advance!

They're not going to ask the 5 year old any questions except maybe what her name is. The questions will be directed to the adult accompanying her. For this kind of situation the questioning is just a formality to ensure the documents are in good order.

The answer to that depends on Brazilian law -- the letter is probably sufficient for a temporary trip away from Brazil and to board the flight, but there may be more specific requirements for taking the child away permanently from Brazil (I assume when you wrote "Rio" you meant Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). If the requirements are not followed the father could report his child's permanent departure as international kidnapping and petition the US govt. to send the child back.
