Hi,

It would be great if anyone could confirm this.

My Name is Biju Joseph. I currently on H1-B and Processing
my Green card. I have applied for my I-485 and have done my finger printing last April1st 2002. I recently went to India and got married.

My Wife is doing her studies im Medicine and she will be able to join me only Next year. Meanwhile Iam thinking of applying Green Card for my wife as Consular Processing. Talking to my lawyer , Iam told that I need to wait until my I-485 is approved, before
I can start my Wife's CP. My lawyer has asked me to keep my Wife's Birth Certificate and our Marriage Certificate Ready and once my 485 is approved I need to apply for I-824.

It would be great if someone could confirm on this. I don't want to do something wrong and have my wife wait 4 years to get her GC.

Thanks

I think your attorney is right.. This is called follow-to-join and has to be initiated once you get your GC. But remember that your PD would have to be current when your wife interviews..
