Consequences of re-scheduling Naturalization interview

Hi all,

So today we received the notice to go for the interview. It has been scheduled for exactly the same date as my wife's due date - we literally have an appointment at the hospital for the birth of our new baby that same day. One possible course of action I can think of is to re-schedule the interview. If we do this, how much of a delay is typical?

It is more than 4 week left for interview/ delivery of your baby. One cannot be certain about delivery as it can happen earlier or later. If it happens earlier, your wife may be able to attend interview on scheduled date. If birth is delayed she may be able to attend interview depending on her condition and distance to your DO.

In your condition USCIS will accommodate any request for reschedule. There may be delay of 30-60 days.

It completely depends on the field office, on how soon the date is rescheduled, but 30-60 as madh4 mentioned is the average.

On another note, birth appointment is interesting! Probably you need to watch the documentary "The Business of Being Born". Unless the baby is in trauma, waiting for 7 days beyond the due date is just ok. Source: spouse is a doc and has naturally delivered a baby beyond the due date - we refused the obgyn's advise to get induced on a certain date.
