Connecticut's Driver's License

Hi,

First of all, I just want to say that I've been reading this forum for quite a while, and actually never needed to join because all my questions were already answered ;-)

This is my story:
I live in CT, applied for asylum in January 2007, my application is still pending. I've received my EAD. Here's my question: Does anyone know if I can apply for CT Driver's License?

I've been researching this for the past 6 months. I still have valid DL from my birth country, as well as valid International Driver's License. My auto insurance canceled my policy because I don't have CT DL.
I've been to the DMV already, they say they aren't sure what to do. This drives me crazy, it's not like I already don't have a full plate!

So, does anyone know if I can get CT Driver's License? If yes, what to I need to bring? If not, what am I supposed to do?

Thanks again!
Happy holidays to everyone on the forum!

You have ONE of the legal requirement that most States require to possess a drivers license (EAD) a the exception of Michigan drivers license controversy. That should be enough to resume your license, even though they may have some applicable rule, such the request of a SSN card etc...
To jump start the process you will need to go back to your local DMV; and bring your EAD with you. That's the first step... and they will process you from there. However they may issue you a license valid only through the validity of your EAD (yearly license), or give a full 5 years license depending on how CT operates...

Best Luck.
