I contacted Eleanor Norton, Congresswoman of Washington DC and someone in her staff emailed back saying that the matters with CIS do not fall under her jurisdiction.

Can I ask a Maryland or Virginia senator to help?? Anyone with experience opf either states?

DC has no senators

And I called the VA senator's office. The lady was nice but she said she could not help if I was not a VA resident.

only your local gov official can help

Congressmen/senators regularly assist people RESIDENTS OF THE AREAs THEY REPRESENT with federal casework. you have to go to US house website and find out who represents your area and contact the congressperson, and both senators of your state. if you do no live in her area then she cannot help you. It does not matter whether immigration is a federal agency (with HQ in DC), and it doesnt matter if you case is stuck in Vermont. So the virginia or vermont officials will not help you.

good luck.

My friend,

Do not give up so easily. Write again, call again, ask why, threaten her with press publicity, with AILA publicity, educate her......show to her what ALL members of congress are doing for their constituents, explain to her the USCIS Congressional Liaison and ask her WHERE SHE CAME FROM.
