Congressman or Senator

I am aware that this question is asked a lot, but here I am asking the experienced people who tried either way to share their experience.

You see I tried the congressman route in California, and after one year, and many phone calls between both the case officer and me, nothing happened. She wasn't even able to give me a status on my case. Most of the time she was like the middleperson between my letters or requests and the congressional CIS liaison via email.

I live now in Maryland and it is such a small state. We have a great senator who just got elected. In her ads she talked a lot about veterans (I am one). Also I might move within the next months to another county and I don't know if that will hurt my file with the congressman if I don't live in his jurisdiction. That's why I am thinking about using my Senetor instead of my congressman, but I might be wrong?

Based on these facts and your personal experience, who has more power, and which office do you think has more efficiency in helping me with my case?

There are only 8 representatives in Maryland and two senators. I think in this case it will be fine to contact a senator. In California, there are two senators and 53 representatives. In CA senator's staff is more likely to be busier than a congressperson's...

And senators definitely have more weight and power. In your state you would be fine with either one choice, go with the one you have a feeling for.

My congresswoman in Los Angeles (Jane Harman) really helped me a lot - I just got an oath notice for Feb 11 :)
