I got the following response from my congressman when they forwarded two following questions to TSC:
1) What is USCIS, Texas Service Center doing to reduce the backlog for employment based I-485 or AOS applications?
2) USCIS, Texas Service Center has been lagging behind other USCIS service centers in processing the employment based I-485 or AOS applications. Is anything being done to correct this situation and reduce the waiting time for AOS filers at Texas Service Center?
TSC response:
This center is currently working I-485 adjustment of status applications filed on or before 4/1/2001. Please be aware that every service center does not work all types of applications/petitions and it is not equitable to compare processing times of different centers. This office processes I-485 applications for employment based petitions, NACARA, and certain Cuban applicants. All adjustment applications require several security checks and some cases may take longer than others due to this requirement. Although there may be some exceptions, it is our goal to process all cases according to the date received.
We have a long task ahead to make TSC acknowledge the backlog and take action to reduce these backlogs. I'll contact my congressman with the lawsuit details and ask him to contact TSC director. I encourage everyone to contact their congressman and ask them to send similar queries to TSC director.
