I am located in Washington D.C. Any Asylees who want to get together and maybe visit the office of a congressman to raise issue about the Cap? We don't need to be scared. No names will be given out but just need few people for support. 1 person won't really show much..

I'm making a documentary on this issue. I would like participate. I live in L.A. and please let me know if you (or everyone who wants to go, actually) would mind if I use the footage of our meeting for the Documentary.
cheers

I support your guys. Door to door to meet and talk to the senators and congressman is the best way to save the suffering asylees. It is better than just sending email to them. Emails just go to their assistants. I lived at D.C. before. Going to Capital Hill and talk to congressman face to face is an easy thing especially on session.

Do you remember the Tian-An-Men event that happened in China 1989? After that, a brave Chinese student represents 80,000 Chinese students in U.S. to visit congressman in capital hill and attend the hearing. Finally made the congress passed the Chinese Student Act, 80,000 Chinese students plus their dependents got GC.

I live in LA now. I can cooperate with your guys to visit LA Times office at same time, let the media knows there is a stupid cap over there that consumes so much government resource and generates the sufferings for so many people.

I want to send letters to senators and congresspersons

That is great stuff I read above guys. Let's do something about this situation!

1) Are there any samples of letters that we can send them? Letters or faxes are more official than email, right? We should send all of them on the left, right, and center.

2) I wrote a post/thread here at the forum that didn't get much attention probably because it was too long. It shows that the State Dept. did a study, in 2004, about security/refugee/asylee issues. (Name of Study: The United States Refugee Admissions Program: Reforms for a New Era of Refugee Resettlement). See the main web page of this by following the link bellow:
http://www.state.gov/g/prm/refadm/rls/rpts/36958.htm

This study recommends changes on caps for asylee adjustment to LPR status - see this other link - and at this link see letter "C":
http://www.state.gov/g/prm/refadm/rls/rpts/36067.htm
A.
B.
C. Repeal the ceiling on asylee adjustments

Why I think this is important? This is not ACLU or Catholic Charities recommending changes on asylee adjustment caps, but this 2004 study’s recommendation comes from the Bush State Dept. We should make sure that all politicians know about this. They need to be informed or re-informed about this study. I better stop now before I write too much here too …

Lastly, for more interesting and important details, see my original post at:

Keep us posted about the documentary miaumiau

I'd love to hear about progress on your documentary.

thanks

The white house is on board with eliminating the cap (yes no more backlog). You should spend your time on the democrats.
