I am on H1 visa and and my I-485 is under processecing. my visa is expiring on Jan-04 and EAD & AP expiring on AUG-03.

I would like to know, If i renew my EAD only..Can i stay in legal status till i get my I-485 approved. OR should i apply for H1 visa extension.

Extension of H1, Can i do my self? or should i take lawyers help.?
 
You will be in legal status with EAD renewal

However if you wish to travel outside US you need AP(if you use
your EAD).

confused...

My question is, i stay on EAD and do not extend my visa.
If my 485 application get rejected/or any kind of trouble. then i will be in trouble.

Is it safe to stay only on EAD....eventhough i have option for extension.

I am in TSC. only god knows when I485 will clear. it is too slow.
 
FOr insurance purposes...

it might be better to keep H1 status even though you are ok on the EAD/AP combination.
It also helps while travel...H1 examination at POE is far less strict than EAD/AP which often require secondary inspection.

Answer is Yes.If you use EAD you need AP to travel outside US.
You seem to be aware of what happens in case of 485 denial according to your second post.

apply H1 for self. I know about 485,EAD and AP but not about H1.
