 Hi, I won DV 2010 & get the IV on the paspor untill 30 Nov 2010, I have 2 girls : 4 y.o & 2.5 y.o.
My plan going to US this Sept - oct 2010 to activate my GC. But my child the 2.5 y.o, recently she doesn't have good health condition to travelling for a long time especially inside the flight (flight hour from Indonesia to US takes 18 hour).
Most of my family suggest me not to bring this child but I am affraid as the US embassy officer was told me ; "If one of your child not enter into the US within 6 monh period of my visa, so she's not able to get a green card" (I dont want this happen to my child).
But if she must go to US and when we arrive she get sick, all my time and my 1 or more weeks in the US will be bussy to visit the doctor to recover her. The other thing my plan also to travelling between city to city and state to state arround US for 1 month to find place for my family in the future, and with this situation she could get sick again.

Does anyone can give me advise what should I do ?

Thank you...

Unfortunately, US immigration is cruel like that.

Perhaps instead of an 18 hour trip to the mainland US, you should consider a special trip to Guam just so she can touch soil there to initiate her permanent resident status. Guam is considered to be part of the US for immigration purposes.

Then take her back to Indonesia one or two days later and leave her in Indonesia until she's healthier and you have established yourself more solidly in the US with a house, job, etc. But she should return to the US within a year after leaving Guam, to avoid having her green card canceled.
