Confused by online status and dates 485 processing

Hi Experts,

Confusion on my side is multi-fold.
1] What do these dates mean then?
2] Why do we have different status for what should be tied to the same approval case?

Another point is that the uscis.gov online site says that they are now attending to cases submitted Feb 11, 2002. (more than two months beyond what our date is).....

What can I do here?

Here is what my online status says

Receipt Number: SRC020545XXXX
Application Type: I485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status
Current Status:
On December 7, 2001, your fingerprint fee was accepted as complete, and processing of your case has resumed.

And for my wife:

Receipt Number: SRC020545XXXX
Application Type: I485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status
Current Status:
Your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status was received on December 7, 2001. We mailed you a receipt with information about processing. It is taking between 850 and 900 days for us to process this kind of case. We will mail you a decision as soon as processing is complete.

Lot of times online status is not updated after the finger print results are recevied. In your case your status was updated and your wife's status was not updated.

My status never got updated untill recently after I did my Second Finger Prints.

So I wouldn't worry much about the difference in your wife's and your online statuses.

If your Notice Date is December 7, 2001 then you should call the 800 number and ask then to open up a case status inquiry. Maybe you should also fax a letter to FBI and see if your name check has been cleared or not.

Also talk to your congressmen and ask them to send an enquiry.
