Confused betweeb FP and Biometrics

Hello Friends,

I am little bit confused as I am reading the messages regarding FP and Biometrics. I noticed some people got FP notice and after few months they also got Biometrics Notices ( code 1/2/3). I had the impression, those who have their I-485 pending will only get FP/Biometrics notices. (FP and Biometrics are same).

Am I doing any mistake here? I have a pending I-485 pending with PD 03/2004 ( I-140 approved august, 2005, NIW). So, what should I expect?

I485 received date 10/04/2005. I am planning to travel to INDIA. But, I am wondering what happens if I get the FP notice when I am in INDIA. .

That's why I am not able to plan ahead. I called NSC: One representative told me it might take 6 months to get the notice or more.

First of all we should know about the code 1, 2 and 3.
Code1: All 10 finger prints, generally they ask soon after the submission of 485.
Code 2: Index finger printing, digital photograph and a signature on LCD screen, generally they ask when 485 got approved or some time when they start processing on 485.
Code 3: Combination of both (1+2).
If you visit the NSC web site, you will able to know the processing time of 485 under the category you have filed the same.
Since you have submitted 485 in October, you should expect code one any time now. Regarding your trip to India, yes some time it's difficult to manage this kind of situation, if you have some responsible person here who can take care of your mail, he or she can re schedule your appointment, But again this is not a good choice because you never know how long it will again take to bring you on their schedule.

As far as I had experience yesterday, they are taking fingerprint,signature and digital photo all in one appointment. This was my first appotinment after submitting I-485.
 
How to determine the type of Biometrics requested??

I recently received my Biometrics Notice for my pending I-485. This is my second FP. First FP was done in June '02 and has a few questions in this regard.

1. How can I determine the code# ( 1, 2 or 3) of the Biometrics asked for ? Can I infer it from anywhere in the I-797 FP noticification? or is it something which only ASC knows ?

2. Since my first FP was done way back in June '02, do I go thru another round of name check after 2nd FP?
