Confused about the situation - Requesting Help!

Hello,

I applied for N-400 in Aug 2006 in LA. I am confused with the situation and need some help on what I should be doing next. I am under some pressure as I have to apply for my wife's Green Card after I get my Citizenship.

- N-400 Receipt received in Aug, 2006
- Fingerprinting in Sep, 2006
- Interview Cleared in Nov'06
- Officer asked me to mail some information and photos after interview which I sent via mail next day.
- I got a call from interviewing officer in Dec requesting that photos are not correct and if I can deliver them next day. I drove and delivered the photos next day which the officer himself took and checked at spot and told me that they were fine now. The officer was really nice.
- I checked the status today on phone and website and it says it cannot retrieve/find the information and I should call the local office to check the status.

- What does this mean?
- Which office should I call? The 800 number on Acknowledgement or I should call the local office?
- Is it fine to call the Interviewing Officer to check the status?
- Do I need a Lawyer at this point?
- What could be possible reasons for delay at this stage from their perspective?

I will appreciate some insight from professionals on this board and any advise on what I should be doing next?

Thanks much.

Love

I would suggest getting an Infopass appointment and going in person to talk to an Immigration Officer about your case.

The reason why they can't retrieve your case is because it is no longer at CSC but is at the local district office where you interviewed at.

I don't think you need a lawyer at this point...as you can always request help from congressman and senator first. I don't think you'll be able to call the Interviewing officer directly since they usually do not give out their direct line.

Here's the URL to make an Infopass appointment:

Good luck :)

I think if it is professional advice what you look for, then you should be willing to pay for it ;) What you can get here is free advice, but non-professional, non-legal advice, usually good. Anyway, I think what happigal has told you is the best thing you can do now.

My 2 cents.

No worries. I'm in the same position with waiting and my receipt number not showing up in the database either. Many others are too. I called and talked to the USCIS phone number and talked to an agent who cleared it up.

She even checked it on her end and it didn't show up. She said it won't always be in there during the post interview part. She says sometimes it'll be in there, sometimes it will be put in there and other times it will just not ever be put in there. She just said keep checking and maybe they'll enter it in, but most likely it won't be.

She just said hang tight and just keep checking your mail and every so often check the site and see if they've done anything. So making an INFOPass will probably just tell you the exact same thing, they'll say sorry we can't check your status as you're not in the system and that'll be all...

Thank You!

Thank You for the insights. I will call on Monday and see if I can reach someone.

Regards
Love
