Hi

I am a little confused on the need of documents if I change my I 485 to CP at chennai.

I have been in US since 1999. I have the I 140 approved and FP done;

If I now apply for CP (Chennai)

- Do I need to get PCC/ Consulate PCC from all the places where I stayed for more than 6 months in India?
- Do we need to go through medicals again at Chennai?
- Any other additional documents needed?

Seniors please help me.

[ No. The PCC that you would have got or will get from Indian Consulate covers your stay in India and is the only one you need. Make sure that the PCC you carry is not older than 6 months when you attend the interview. ]

[ I am not really sure, but I think you will have to get your
physicals done and vaccinations taken through one of the
Chennai panel doctors.

However you may be exempted from some or all of the
vaccinations when you show the records from US ]

- Any other additional documents needed?

[ It is difficult to answer without a reference. If you browse
the forum you will find the docs. required for the CP interview
and you can compare that with the docs. you have ]

Seniors please help me.

My responses in brackets.

GS2003,

I hope you know the entire process to go for CP once you have applied for AOS. Chennai does not accept AC140 cases- hence you need to apply for I824 which is taking 6-8 months at most service centers-(may be more at some slow centers). Once you get this approved, the time table for CP is 6-8 months. All this time, you won't have any protection from AC-21, nor will you have EAD. So, if you are secure in your job and have plenty of H1b time and don't mind the extra expense of CP related travel, this may work for you. Depending on how long into AOS you are at the present time, you may be better served by just sitting tight! Good luck!:)

Thank you Raju 595 and Rajeev Kumar for taking the trouble.

I greatly appreciate your advice.
