Confused About Police Clearance Requirement for B Visa Application

Hi everyone,

I’m currently preparing documents for a B visa application, and one thing that’s confusing me is the police clearance certificate requirement. I’ve read different experiences—some people said they were asked for it, while others mentioned it wasn’t required unless requested by the consular officer.

To avoid last-minute issues, I decided to look into how to apply and renew police clearance online in the Philippines.

Has anyone here actually been asked to present a police clearance for their B visa interview? Do you recommend applying in advance, or should I just wait until the consulate requests it?

Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences!

I have never heard of this. I had multiple B visas (and recently helped someone apply for one) and was never once asked for police clearance. If you have a criminal history it might be required? Generally you are not required to submit anything other than your passport for the visa at a B interview. Anything that is required will be listed when you complete the online DS160 application and schedule the interview.
