Conflicting answer from FBI and USCIS

Hello all,

I initiated an inqury with USCIS not too along ago on my I-485 case and got a letter indicating that my case has been delayed due to FBI security check. Online status didn't change at all.

Today, I called FBI and the representative told me that the result has been sent back to USCIS on 04/23/05, which was a day after my fingerprints were taken.

Anyone has any idea what's going on here? Does FBI security check mean "figerprint check" or "name check" or both.

The results sent back to USCIS on 4/23/05 were for the FBI fingerprints results. I believe the FBI name check is initiated after the fingerprints are taken. When I did my fingerprints in Seattle, the lady who did my fingerprints wrote down all the different ways I spelled my name which leads me to think that the FBI name check is initiated at this stage. Some people will disagree and say that the FBI name check is initiated at the very begining when USCIS receives you I-485 application. In either case, the FBI name check is a much longer process than the fingerprint check. It can take anywhere between days to 4 months. If you are one of the unlucky 1% people, it can take years.

Name check and FP are two different process. FP are usually cleared within 24 hours if there is no problems with it. Name check can take upto few days to years. Contacting local congressmen office would help to find out the status of the name check and the FP.
 
I have another question:
I just talk to FBI today and they informed me that they have already sent my FP results same day to INS and I have seen that couple of days later my LUD changed.
I want to know how would I know that my name check is pending, should I talk to FBI or INS if so; any of you know a number or email address?

Please Help!

The only way to find out name-check info for NSC applicants is through the local congressman or senator if you are lucky enough to have some nice ones in your state.

I am just wondering how do you get to know that ur Fingerprinting and name check has cleared?
I have done my fingerprinting and biometrics on 26th Aug 2005.
The LUD changed after 2 days..i.e on 28th Aug.
Now does this mean my namecheck and fingerprint check is cleared?
