I am a USC. My wife and daughter just got their permanent residency through DCF at New Delhi. At the port of entry my wife was told she had conditional residency till May 2005. This was a surprise because the DHS officer in New Delhi had specifically said conditional residency did not apply since we had been married over 3 years, but the visa category he erroneously marked was CR1/CR2 instead of IR1/IR2.
The port of entry officer was clueless as to what the remedy was, and asked us to contact New Delhi or Newark (Our regional DHS office).
I would appreciate any advise on what to do. I hate to have to file for removal of conditional residence after a year for such an obvious mistake.
