Conditional Green Card thru employment possible?

Hi, does anyone know if a "conditional" greencard exists for application based on employment? My daughter just moved back to the U.S. from Europe. She brought along her European boyfriend, who received a letter from INS that his greencard has been approved, and that it is a "conditional" greencard. They told me that the application was based on a petition from his US employer. But I think they are lying to me :mad: , and that he got the greencard throug marriage (my daughter is a US citizen). I've looked at many sources, and seems like "conditional" greencard is only given to marriage of less than 2 years. Can someone please shed some light to this mystery for me please. Thanks.
 
I don't claim to be an expert, but I have never heard of a conditional green card thru employment. Like you, I think it is only possible to obtain through marriage.

Unless they are referring to a work visa (H-1B) and not a true green card.
