Hi Guys

My employer is unwilling to file I485 along with I140.
My I140 has been filed with ND 07/07/2003.

I do have a copy of receipt of I140.

My question is can i file I485 by myself or should hire a lawyer do that. If i hire a lawyer do that then the G28 form ( which is saying that lawyer is representing you) will be different for both I140 and I485. what are the implications of this ??
did any body do this already??

if i file I485 by myself and if my employer finds out (by whatever reason) what are the implications ?? i did read the Yates memo dated Aug 12 th and its interpretation on murthy.com and cyrusmehta.com.

i want to know if anybody is actually doing this and may be i can get advise from person who is in the same boat as mine.

I WANT TO FILE I485 PRETTY BADLY THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT TO ME..

please feel free to send me an e-mail at jamber_w@hotmail.com

thanks in advance

I am in same boat as you. My employer filed my 140 but not 485. I was thinking to file 485 myself (as it looked me simple). But I could not do so as my stupid employer refused to give me the copies of labor and I-140.

You can file 485/765/131 yourself. You dont need neither lawyer nor employer for that.
All the instructions and information you will find on the
internet.

Not only you will save money but then you dont have
to deal with the staff at lawyers' office.
Most of them suck and not co-operative.
You will be lucky to get a good lawyer. I have very bad experince
with Immigration lawyers.
I am having the same experience.

If you have proper cover lettter, documents in order and all the
documents required and follow the instructions on BCIS site ,
then it is very easy.

I have filed H4 for wife twice myself and got approvals in one month each time. I got receipts in one week .
BTW i have changed H1 4 time. ..
When lawyer filed H4 last time , it took 4 months.....

DO it yourself if it is straightforward case.

Without 140 receipt?

I don't think u or your lawyer can file AOS without 140 receipt notice.
Confirm with experts before doing it.
