Concurrent CP and AOS?

Did anybody file I-824 for the purpose of doing AC-140 when his AOS was pending? Will INS ask you to choose or do they cancel your AOS without notifying you? Anyone have experience keeping their AOS while doing CP? Thanks.

As per INS notification

they will consider your AOS "abandoned", i.e., canceled if you apply for CP (I824). Whether they actually terminate the process, how exactly they do it, I\'m not sure.

I know the INS memo prohibiting concurrent AOS and CP. However, in that memo, INS stated that they would send a written notice to the applicant of I-824 to ask him to choose, before they cancel his AOS. I want to know anyboy has the experience to share. Thanks.
