Is the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Bill reintroduced by Senate Majority Leader Reid contain the 4 year citizenship??? anybody knows what is going on in the senate?

I hope it does. I recall reading on this forum that the bill that was introduced last year or before; allowed eligibility for citizenship 4-years after a person become PR. I hope that provision is not repealed in the current bill. Knock on the woods!

I haven't had the chance to see the current bill so I can't tell for sure. I think the Senete is now negotiating on this bill --thru next week. I hope they will hammer out soon a good deal which will result in a win-win scenario (to America and documented/undocumented immigrants).

Yes, S.1348 was re-introduced this week and does have 4 years citzenship based on fluency in English. So the hope is still alive....

From what I have heard through our lobbyist, they will replace that with a new bill or put in the new "Z" visa option. Z Visa as thought out by our great president. What it is that it would allow undocumented people to have legal status for 8 years. After 8 years, head of the household would have to travel back to his/her native country & get stamped at a consulate for visas for all his family members in the country already. Then they would apply for their GCs once the head of household returns back. So theoretically 15 years from now(2022) to get their citizenship.In the 15-17 years, they would have to remain employed, paying taxes and commit no crimes.

The sticking point is about family members stuck back home for all the undocumented. If they give them visas to immigrate, what about legal immigrants(GCs) spouse & kids? Thats where things get complicated. Congress won't separate their families for 22 years so they are trying to come up with something that pleases everyone...Making F2a category as immediate realtives(just like USC) and eliminating the brother/sister of US citizen visas.

And there also will be $5000 fine that an illegal person would have to pay over eight years. After paying the fine they will have to go back home and get a stamp just like H1 folks and re-enter. Once they re-enter, they can apply for their GC after a year and rest is the same.

This process just make me sick(sicker). It is totally non-sense(to me) why would you do that(they can make more money). People who have the same situation as I have are screwed. I am almost end of it(if they don't change anything else) but what about other people. They have to taste this seperation for how many years?
I don't know if we have more families which are suffereing from the seperation or more Illegal in this country? I don't even think about it anymore. They make sure that you won't think about anything else besides the immigration and all the realted issues.
I promise as soon as I am able to bring my wife here, all the rules are going to change for good. It has been like this since I can remember.
WANT, they introduce the bill frist and then they will discusse it in there? or what? I have no clue how does this work
 
Now we talking about new immigration era : prioritize skilled undocumented workers over family based immigrant.
It's unique opportunity for every hard working man and women..congratulation.
 
Are we still going to be able to bring our parents here when we become USC?
If not I think I think that's a big mistake.
 
I have read it and 4 years citizenship is still there, but there is nothing about adjustment of spouses of LPRs :-(

Bustards. LP's are the poorest people in this county, no power whatsoever. If you burn your GC and become an illegal, you may get ajusted faster with your spouse.

Clinton will introduce an ammendement to this bill on Monday:

"Mrs. Clinton, an aide in her Senate office said, will focus on the provision that would de-emphasize family ties in granting visas, an element of the bill that has drawn fierce objections from many groups and elected officials representing Hispanics.

Mrs. Clinton will try to limit the impact on Hispanic immigrants by offering an amendment to reunite lawful permanent residents with their spouses and minor children by exempting those family members from the visa cap in the bill, the aide said."
