I am from a european country and has had a GC for more than 10 years. Madly in love with someone from Africa, this person is residing in that same euro country and he has applied for citizenship in that country. He should be close to get it by now. I would like to have this person join me in the States. I understand that with my GC only, nothing can happen, right? So I have to become a US citizen and marry him in order to grant him legitimate entry to the US and legal status to work here? Am I right? How long to get citizenship for me? Once I am a US citizen, I can get married and bring him here? I am sorry, all this stuff is a little rusty by now. Right now, he has no passport at all, since he is a refugee in europe.
