Complicated situation

This is the situation for my friend.

My friend's wife went back to India 4yrs after her green card with kid( US CZ). She didn't care for Citizenship. My friend stayed back and applied for Citizenship and got it.
Now he wants go back to India and apply for his wife's Citizenship. Can he do that while he is in India or both of them have to come to US for that? She applied for GC re-entry but she never came back to US for last 2yrs. Will she be denied for Citizenship?

Most probably

She already lost her permanent residency, which is the pre-requisite for applying the citizenship.
 
Is it possible to restart all over? Like she will get temp GC and then Citizenship as her husband is a Citizen. But does she need to stay in US to do that?
 
She may NOT have lost her GC though thats a good
possibility. Reentry permits are valid from 2 years
of when the APPLICATION WAS APPROVED not
when it was submitted. Permits typically
take atleast a year to process ...

Here is what u need to do now

1) Find out Status of Reentry Permit. If its approved within last 2 years, u are ok, if its still pending u are a "cat on the wall", if it was denied, you have most
likely lost the GC.

2) If ifs pending, get it expedited ASAP.

3) If she did indeed lose her GC, it should not
be a big deal to get it back as husband is a USC, try
to approach the local Delhi consulate or file K3 from here for a new GC.

4) CONTACT an ATTORNEY!!
