Complicated situation, multiiple 485 application

I am currently on H1B visa, with my GC in process. I applied I-485 and waiting for the approval like million others.

Meanwhile my parents have filed for me under F3 category. Now since I am in US, should just go ahead and file another I-485 for adjustment of status ?

Is it allowed to have multiple I-485 in progress ? Has anyone had similar experience like this ?

Yes, multiple I-485 are permitted and you can search this forum for examples.
I had two at one time, in two different service centers.
I officially withdraw the first one (with longer processing time) before my interview for family based application.
By filing second application you will loose money, because only one can get approved, but you may possibly get it over sooner.
Now, I don’t know how long it will take you to wait for your interview in F3 category and how long you already been waiting with your work based one. I would file a second I-485 (and that’s why I personally did) only if the family based application can actualy trump the backlog you already in.

Jane, thanks for the reply.

So is it necessary/must to withdraw one I-485 before going to the interview based on family ?

Becuase if I withdraw my I485 based on H1, wouldn't my status be invalid ?

Couple of people (on this board, but I don’t know anybody personally) did not do it in advance, but instead they withdraw first application during the adjustment interview

Probably…
My first I-485 was based on asylum and before fling another I-485 I made sure my status (and its’ benefits, such as unrestricted and never-expired employment authorization) won’t change or get lost. It didn’t. I revoked my application for adjustment, but only INS could revoke my status. Asylum is being granted ”indefinitely” and filing for GC was not a requirement for me, but an opportunity.
With H1 and employment based GC application you have a different set of complications, but I am not familiar well enough to advice you beyond what I already said.
