Hi All,

This is my first post on any Immigration forums.

After a long journey on naturalization path, recently became naturalized USA citizen. Here is the question for all the experts on this forum.

Background Information:
1) My son's DOB as per passport was 05/18/1997 (actual date),
2) As per Birth Certificate issued by Indian Municipality was 05/19/2007 (reported by doctor's office and recorded by official on this date )
3) Indian Passport was obtained prior to getting Birth Certificate with 05/18/1997 as DOB.
4) Came to USA, applied for Green Card, then INS asked for Birth Certificate, then approached Indian Municipal officials to issue a Birth Certificate, they issued it with DOB as 05/19/2007 as per their records.
5) Submitted the Birth Certificates, along with affidavits stating DOB was 05/18/1997, got the Green Card. No Problems.
6) School records, Indian Passport (will cancel this soon, after becoming USA citizen), Green Card contain DOB as 05/18/1997. But the Birth Certificate recorded DOB as 05/19/2007

Questions:
1) Is it worth recording DOB as per Birth Certificate in American Passport?
Did INS raise point why their system has 05/18/2007 as DOB which was different from Birth Certificate while applying for N-600?

2) What is the impact on getting PIO or OCI Card (Note: As per Indian Passport the DOB was recorded as 05/18/2007).

3) I don't see any problem in correcting School Records based on American Passport.

4) OR. Continue to use 05/18/2007 as DOB in American Passport and carry Birth Certificate (DOB 05/19/2007) and Affidavits (states DOB is 05/18/2007)

I will appreciate your feedback.

Thanks,

I suggest you keep one of them (preferably the actual one i.e. 05/18/1997) as the only DOB. Dont keep both; it will cause life-long confusion.

Take it from someone who has two dates of birth - one, actual and the other one, official !!

Thank you Ravi. The Indian Municipal officials refused to change the date to actual date. So the DOB (05/19/1997) on Birth Certificate is fixed.

And else where (on Indian passport, Green Card and School Records) the DOB
was recorded as 05/18/1997.

I am thinking to go with DOB (05/19/1997) on Birth Certificate and update it on US Passport and School Records and eventually on Indian OCI.

But, I am wondering what will are the consequences for N-400, application for US Passport and application for Indian OCI. I may contact a qualified immigration lawyer for these answers.

Thanks,

Note: I am sorry, there were some typing errors in the original post. The year of DOB was 1997 but not 2007.
