Compass, or anyone who has experience in this:

My NIW 140 was appproved in VSC, but I have to file 485 in CSC since I have moved to California. I have the following questions:

1. Do I need to mention the reason why I am filing in CSC in my cover letter?
2. Do I need to explain that I am working in the same research field as in my 140 petition in the cover letter?
3. I heard that in cases like this, it tends to take longer since the CSC office might want to look up my 140 case in VSC, which will cause lots of delay. Is it true?
4. Is it a good idea if I try to use my friend's address in Virginia and file 485 in VSC? is it ok or is it treated as a kinf od fraud?

Any input in greatly appreciated.

Hi I just filled my 485 from NSC even though I stay in CA. My lawyer sais since my laobur and 140 was approved from NSC I have to file the 485 there.

But don't worry, All your approvals will come to your home address mentioned in 485 (which can diff. the region you filed you 485) as well one copy goes to the lawyer (AP in perticular)

Hi jmxu,
1. - I did clearly write in the cover letter that my NIW I-140 was approved in CSC but I am filing to VSC because this is where I currently live and work. I gave of course my address (both residence and work addresses are in MD).
2. - I attached a letter from my new job and yes, I mentioned in the cover letter that the job is in same field (however i do not know if this was nesessary).
3. - My case was processed exactly as supposed by VSC time frame. However instead of approval it was transferred to the local office (and my friends case who sent at same time as me to VSC was approved a little later than mine was transferred). I do not know the reason for transfer, maybe it was just NIW (some think most NIW are transferred), maybe doctors mistake in medicals (i was told on it only at interview).

4. - I do not think it is a good idea. You may be trasnferred for interview and then they ask for the proof of your residensy like drivers license, apt lease, bills, and you will not have those. Also FP notices etc will go to the address you will give...
