I work for a top telecom company in US (over 100K employees). I graduated last yr completing a 4 yr Bachelors degree in Computer Science and joined the company on OPT. Within 4 mths they did my H1 as they liked my performance. Now my project mgr gave me approval to start my GC process. But the company\'s Foreign Labors Office (which does all processing and interaction with lawyers ) told me that they cant do my Labor Certification due to layoffs in the comapny last yr of about 15000 employees.
I asked them how long I can wait and they said it all depends upon economy recovery and when my company starts hiring. They said they are hoping it wont take more than 6 mths. But problem is that nobody knows WHEN!!.
Is there anything I can really do to start this process earlier. Also I have heard smaller companies are still doing LC process. Does anyone have any leads to any good companies that are still doing LC processing right now successfully and are looking to hire in IT area. I just feel there is no point in working for a big company right now due to this situation.
