All,
The company I work for has decided to offshore some software development to India.
Being from there, I might be given an opportunity to head a small team over there.
My PD is June 21 2006.
My company might ask me to move sometime during June 2005.
There may be quite a bit of travelling between the U.S and India.
My plan is as follows:

1. Visit at least once between June 2005 and March 2006 to keep GC alive.
2. Stay from March 2006 until June 21 in the US and apply for citizenship through an attorney ( to satisfy the 3 month rule)
3. Wait till the FP date (which I am assuming will not take more than 1 month) and get FP done.
4. Go back to India and wait for my Interview date (hopefully my attorney will tell me when he gets notified).
5. Come back for the Interview and finish the process.

I will be asking my company for a written document stating why they are sending me to India, etc. so that I have adequate proof at the time of the Interview.

Please advise me if I am missing any crucial details in my plan and also if there is a better way to get my citizenship and accept this unique opportunity.

thanks,
Sunil

No single trip should be over 6 months. You cant leave in June 05 and expect to come back by March 06 and expect to preserve your continuous residence (No single trip over 6 months). Youd better have damn good ties in the US to preserve your residence

If you work and live overseas then you may have been judged to have "abondoned" your PR

You are correct. I need to visit once before March of 2006 to preserve my GC.
What are some of the things I can do to state my intent of not abandoning my residency although I work for an American company overseas and live overseas ?

thanks,
Sunil

Letters from your employer, especially one from HR or Legal
Pay Taxes for 05 in US/W2's
Paying rent in the US is a good sign
Having Bills in the US for the time gone

I recommend you visiting the US once every 3-4 months and staying for atleast 2 weeks

Think about it
