Folks,

My company X formed a Joint Venture with another company Y and changed name to Z and will have a different Tax-id as of 01/01/2001. The parent company (of the former company X) still owns 50% of the new joint venture and the Y\'s parent company also owns 50% of the joint venture Z. I filed my 485 at VSC under company X in Feb. 2000 and the name change is effective 01/01/2001 (with new tax ID). Will it affect my i485? do I have to redo i140 etc.. (god hope not). My lawyer says, I don\'t have to do anything but based on what has been talked about it in this forum, I am getting a little concerned. Please share your experiences...

Thanks a million in advance.

My sincere advice to you, let us hope you don\'t get a RFE, but if you get it for sure they will ask you to present proof of continued employment.

If you attorney didn\'t file amended I140 by then, I am sure INS will ask you to file new I-140. It happened same thing in My case. I got sencond RFE to file new I-140 Just because of name change.

It will take 3-4 weeks to get approved. I think it is worth to file new I-140.
