company name change approval--verizon

I just spoke to my lawyer. She told me that she has just received an approval for a case where company name changed from Bell Atlantic to Verizon(after Bell Atlantic & GTE merger) without having to do an ammended I-140. Till now that case was on hold.I work for the same company and my situation is identical and am still waiting for approval. Hopefully this means that we will start seeing some I-485 approvals with name change without requiring I-140 in this board soon.

Thanks for your message, but would you be able to verify the following for the case that was approved:
1. If I 485 and I 140 had differnt names
2. If they had the same name, if there was an RFE for employment letter and the response was sent back using the changed companys\' name.
What I am trying to get at is if the adjudicating officer had sufficient evidence that the compay\'s name changed on that application.

Name change happened after I-485 but before RFE. So I485 was submitted under Bell-Atlantic name and the RFE was responded to under Verizon name. In spite of the merger taxids have remained the same. The lawyer told me that that case was also on hold before. She told me the case was virtually identical to mine. Advised me to be patient mine should be approved anytime now. She did not know if any official guidelines were out or not. I just feel tired after 6 years.
