My employer seems to have not deducted social sec from my wages for the entire year. I have however already paid taxes on the income that also included social security.
Will this issue present any problems with 485 application.
Isn't my employer responsible for deducting the correct social security amount at source?
Any suggestions useful

no issue at all

You are lucky, it is good for you. Never remind your employer it is not your fault. No issues what soever will come because of this.

Not to worry

I too was in the same boat. My company forgot to deduct for a year and a half. Checked with my lawyer as well as HR and was told that there is no issue with this and Green card process. The first year was ignored and for next half, they made a payment plan and deducted it out of my paycheck and took the fun out of my life..

Make sure the I9 that you have on record with your company is correct. Some instances of EAD are exempt from SS tax etc. eg. OPT that you get on the basis of your F1, if you are an Indian citizen is exempt from SS Taxes.

While you are not responsible for the with-holdings, you don't want to keep paying the INS lump sum money at the end of the year. Make sure your deductions are correct!
