Hiya all..
There was some confusion as to whether the common law marriages are recognised by BCIS or not?.. Depending if you live in 1 of the 12 states where common law marriage exists, does BCIS takes this kind of marriage into account?
Please give in your inputs..

If your local state does.. the BCIS shouldnt have a problem with it. do a google search on common-law marriage and see what you can find related to Immigration.

Thanks Sachin for the reply. So according to this, common law marriage is accepted for Texas INS since Texas is one of the few states which recognises the common law marriage.
Thanks again..

your welcome.. Does Texas really count?? lol j/k.

IMHO INS would find a common law marriage to be invalid because it may not have the necessary paperwork & besides that how hard is it to get married these days?? it's Vegas all the way <G>
