People in VSC forum and CSC forum are contributing left and right towards fight to reduce the I485 backlogs. It is surprising that even though TSC is having the worst processing time, not many from this forum have contributed so far. We (core team) are partly to blame for this because we did not appeal strongly in TSC and NSC forums. That's why i am here today. Please contribute today to immigrationportal.org .

From now on, i will be daily following up in this forum. Please let me know if you have any questions. The VSC Forum thread will explain most of your questions.

The backlog has never affected VSC and NSC people at the current scale. That is why they are so "up in arms" over it, and TSC folks may have come to terms with it a bit more, in a realistic kind of way. The wiating time at TSC has been 999 days for alomost 2 years until just yesterday. VSC has suddenly been thrust into a similar world, and they are learning to deal with that reality just now by trying to start a movement.

It has always been much longer in TSC. We have become accustomed to the backlog. It is part of the TSC culture now. We have become complacent. We have accepted that TSC is slow, and is always going to be the slowest center in the country. VSC consistently gets there cases' online status updated. TSC cases are randomly updated. VSC consistently gets fingerprints sooner than TSC. VSC consistently gets approvals sooner than TSC. We cannot change their priorities. TSC sucks, but that's the way it is. We have tried way too many times with no avail, just to have TSC put another priority in front of us again. The backlog will not get reduced by us, we have no say in this. They will not listen to us. We are not the voting population. We are aliens in a country who graciously has us as her guest. We are lucky to be here in the first place.

You bring up the backlog, but the only backlog that USCIS is ever going to notice is the family category backlog. Why? Because the sponsors of those family based petitions are American Citizens eligible to vote, not some corporation trying to make money by hiring talented individuals from overseas who also give the impression to be taking away jobs from other US citizens. That is the view of the average US citizen, and they are the ones who will vote to reduce the backlog or not. Not us.

The backlog is one thing. TSC folks are more concerned their cases being processed in order of receipt date, instead of at random. That is starting to happen now, more than it was in the past, with the exception of LongGC and a few others. Artificially moving a processing date just to satisfy the pleading masses of I-485 applicants to reduce a backlog, will NOT reduce a backlog. We at TSC know that, and we are not fooled by their games. We have learned that the processing dates don't mean anything anyways. Its a step in the right direction to see that TSC is processing cases in order, regardless of the backlog.

Sure there are hardships caused by the backlog. I personally live them everyday. I hear them everyday from my colleagues and people on this forum. Personally I will sit and wait, but stressing myself over such a thing is not worth my health, especially when I've seen other efforts fail time and again.

The Green Card is not life. Just as TSC has higher priorities, so do I. It will come when it comes and I have very little control over that.

Call me negative, I think I am realistic....but those are just my 2 cents.

curiousGeorge,

Very well written and said. I agree with you 100%.

However, if there is something positive we can do, such as what dsatish is calling for, we should encourage it. If NOT encourage it, at least be neutral about it.

This is MY 2 cents :D

I agree with nfn.

dsatish, just a note that I have contributed.
Not a big amount but whatever I can right now.

My fellow TSC filers, All of can certainly do something Positive about this.

For any reason, if we can't collect enough money to do any meaningful work, we might return the money(full or partly) to the donors. So your money won't go to drain. Be assured.

nfn,

I guess I will remain neutral. I think there are lots of neutral people on the TSC forum (for the reasons I mentioned above), and that's why he is not getting the reponse one might expect.

I do not think what he is doing is a bad thing. I just personally feel that I have been discouraged so much that I no longer have the energy to fight.

My feelings exactly,

curiousGeorge,

I am also tired and frustrated of not being able to make major decisions in life due to this slow process. It is precisely because of this I support the movement. What I lack in energy and enthusiasm I hope can be made up if we are a large enough group of people. What is being dished out to us is UNFAIR. Who can talk and highlight it better than us? What better way to do it than be organized and come together?

A single stick can be easily broken, but a bundle of sticks...maybe not.

well said CuriousGeorge!

I waited 15 months to get my first FP and then I have been waiting for another 15 months until now to be adjudicated. After all there is a limit of even frustration and disappointment, I am beyond that. In other words I have learnt to accept the delay. May be I am a coward for not standing up to my rights (if I have any) but so be it. I want to live for another day to continue the fight.

Hail Curious George!! I am with you!! And agree with you 100% Couldn't have said it better myself!! To treat GC as life is sheer waste of time and energy!!

Like George, there must be several others who have got tired of fighting and believe it is a useless fight against USCIS.

For all those, who have got used to see TSC's processing date not move by a single date for 7 months and now are seeing TSC's date move moving every 15 dates, you might be thinking eventually Your turn will come.
Let it be 1.5 yrs, 2 yrs, 2.5 yrs , eventually I will get my GC, so why contribute to Immigrationportal.org.
But god forbid you run into a situation like LongGC's. Today he is
considering paying $1000 to an attorney just to find his Actual status.
Instead you could make a small donation now and get a service you really deserve.

Rsur hit it right in the nail for me.
This is the way I see it -
I am not any core member of the immigration.org community or know members like dsatish, edison, kashmir, rk4gc etc.

At this point of time in my life, I too lack in energy, time & direction to fight against the USCIS & their backlogs & other issues.
But you have members like the above listed who are already doing that under the aegis of Rajiv Khanna.

Least I or You can do is support these Volunteer Members and Contribute.

It is a WIN-WIN situation for us.

agreed ...

Agreed it is for everyones good that 485 backlog be reduced. Afterall everyone has to go through that queue.

However I feel USCIS is screwing us more my trying to reduce the 485 backlogs. The fujie memo is an example, how it plans to screw the AC21 for those who were waiting for 140 approval to use AC21....

You guys in 485 backlog consider urself lucky that you can atleast use AC21 to get a decent job. Think abt. us unfortunates who are still reeling with the blood sucking consulting companies and waiting for 140.

I wish Rajiv spends some time on the AC21 clarity also.

Some facts about this Fund collection drive

OK, TSC friends, first of all it was very nice to see responses from a lot of people from this forum. Since i rarely post here i thought that some people will question me 'who are you'. But you guys are so nice :)
I guess that most of you might know me for some time because of some of the activities i have taken up over the past 1 year. To quote a few of them : I am one of the lead authors(edison being the other one) of the petition that we all signed and sent to the Ombudsman some 6 months back. When Rajiv Khanna has decided to file the law suit, i have created threads in all the forums asking for plaintiffs and the final plaintiffs are picked from those threads. I have also created threads in all the forums to discuss about validgrounds for lawsuit. This was to help Rajiv come up with strong arguments. Finally i was one of the founding members of the core team formed with members from all the 4 I485 forums with the aim of fighting the backlogs. 'ayansgp' and 'tr22' are core team members from TSC forum.
In addition to the above activities, which are not VSC specific, i continue as an active member of VSC forum, answering as many questions as possible from new comers regarding I485 issues.
Now coming to the Fund collection issue, well, we started immigrationportal.org with high hopes. We thought that atleast 1000 people will make contributions because this site is visited by thousands of I485 applicants and we are fighting for them (us). We thought that we can easily collect 100K and hire liasion officers to represent us and meet all the congress men to apply presure on BCIS to speed up the I485 process. We also plan to try and change the citizenship law so that we don't need to wait for another 5 yrs after GC for citizenship. The goal is , we should be able to vote in 2008 elections. With all these plans, we worked hard for 2 to 3 months in registering the organization, opening an account, developing a web site etc. Finally we launched our organization (actually it belongs to every one here) on April'6. We are stunned when we saw just 5 donations from all the forums together on the opening day. We collected just $500 on that day. The second day went with no collections ($0) :D
It was a big shock to us and we are not sure what to do next. The signs were obvious that this fund collection is going to be a big failure. Then on the third day, i made an honest appeal in VSC forum, asking people to give me feedback about why they are not contributing. Then i realizes that the main reason for the lack of response is sheer lethargy , a tendency to postpone the things. Majority of the people said that they will contribute later. That gave me hope and i started reminding people every day and slowly people started to contribute, around 5 to 6 peoples per day, steadily. Then 'kashmir' has started serious efforts in CSC forums for the fund collection and that also picked up good momentum. Now most of the people in VSC and CSC forums treat immigrationportal.org as their organization. Most of them associate themselves with immigrationportal.org . Due to these relentless efforts from myself, kashmir, edison etc we now have collected more than $13000 in one month. Now we are targetting to make it 30K by the end of this Month. That's why i have started efforts in TSC and NSC forums now. Once we reach 30K, then we can start hirig a liason officer to work for us and represent our community at various levels like United States congres, Senate, Indian / Chinese / British Ambassies, BCIS, AILA etc.
Just as a dismal and almost failed venture (fund collection) has turned into a successful campaign, i am sure that we wil be able to shake the USCIS with our UNITED POWER. You just need to believe in your strategy and your ability. When the fund collection was going no where, i doubted our ability, not our strategy. That belief in the strategy kept us going and now we have reached a stage where it is impossible to doubt about our ability. We are at the threshold of creating history, just as "ISN.org" has done in 2000 when they collected money and successfully campaigned with the congress to enact AC21 law , the benefits of which we are all enjoying now. Unless sow a seed now, you can't ripe a fruit tomorrow. So please believe in our united power and contribute what ever amount you can afford to. Rajiv Khanna is also a director of this organization and we will not spend a single penny for personal expenses. The expenses will be kept transparent to all the donors. So far, we have not withdrawn a penny from the money collected in the last 1 month.
If you have any questions, i will be glad to answer.

Our fight is about GC delays. So even if forget to mention I140 explicitly, be assured that this fight includes a fight to adjudicate I140 in 6 months.

dsatish and others...

i sincerely feel and am sure others would share this opinion that you do not need to justify your position or of others - your situation being as hopeful or hopeless as all of us...

i think the advice we get here on minor issues is sufficient justification for making a contribution... the convenience, availability, experience, researched information, personalized responses and the occasional jackass - i would pit that against any lawyer's service (with due respect to Rajiv)... the catharsis in sharing and venting is as good a therapy session... and when you look behind the scenes at the effort of a few individuals, it is inspiring...

i have mentioned the efforts of this portal to colleagues and friends and have seen quite a few dropped jaws at the scale and effort of this 'virtual' community...

we see what we have - now think of the alternative - without this community...

we should applaud the effort, be grateful and graceful...

thanks...

Mad Par,
Thanks for your contribution. Welcome aboard (immigrationportal.org)

CouldNotPost,
You are right. This is a great forum and a great place to start our fight against backlogs. I don't think any other forum has the kind of people we have here . We have sent petitions to BCIS signed by 4000 people. We have filed a lawsuit against them and now we have formed an organization and collecting funds to hit them with congressional hammers :D . For an employment based GC applicant $100 is not a big amount if it is going to help reduce the backlogs even by 6 months. If you have financial problems, you can contribute even less. If you have made good money so far, you can contribute more. There are people who have contrinuted $300 and more.

I will keep updating this thread daily with latest developments on fund collection. Myself or edison will daily post the opening balance of our fund and also the previous day's collection. So please keep visiting this thread daily and let's hope slowly more and more people join this fight against backlogs.

dsatish, I did contribute too yesterday.
You were right in the other message about sheer lethargy.
I am good example of that.

Anyways, That will be nice to see the previous day's collection.

Also it is great of people like Mad Par, Tr22, Ayansgp who have been approved but are still helping this forum and contributing.

Guys, your small contribution will make the difference to all of us.
